Financial Aid for Summer School

Students will be awarded financial aid for summer school attendance based on hours enrolled.  No application will be required to be awarded financial aid for summer school attendance.

In order to be eligible for a financial aid award for summer school, the following guidelines will be followed:

  • All students applying for summer financial aid must have a 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), www.fafsa.ed.gov, and any required supporting documents on file with Texas Tech University to receive summer financial aid.
  • The 2011-12 FAFSA deadline is June 30, 2012.
  • Students receiving a Federal Direct Loan and attending only one summer term must be registered in six (6) hours to receive loan funds.
  • Minimum enrollment for private/alternative loans varies depending upon lender.
  • For students enrolled in both summer sessions, the aid will be in two disbursements with the second disbursement at the beginning of summer II.
  • Grants will be awarded based on hours enrolled.

*Undergrad/Grad students must be enrolled a total of 6 hours to be eligible for summer financial aid. Law students must be enrolled a total of 4 hours to be eligible for summer financial aid.

**Students with uneven enrollment (i.e. 2 hrs. Summer I; 4 hrs. Summer II)

  • Grants will be awarded as noted above based on hours enrolled. Funds will be released when credit hours total 6. 
  • Loans will not disburse until the beginning of Summer II when credit hours total 6.

Student-athlete awards will be adjusted per NCAA Bylaws.
Students do not have to be enrolled to receive Federal Work Study.
Students may check their financial aid status and award notifications on RaiderLink.

Awards will be made based on available funding by Federal and State agencies. It is the student’s responsibility for notifying any change in enrollment to the Student Financial Aid Office.
