Iron Horse Literary Review Film Fest
On April 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the English Department Theater 001, Iron Horse Literary Review will host its annual one-night film festival. We'll screen some terrific original short-short films: video essays & stories as well as cina-poetry. We’ll feature the winner & finalist of our 2013 Video Lit Competition as well as shorts by Dinty W. Moore, Kristen Radtke, John Bresland & Eula Biss, Eric LeMay, & IHLR staff.

Don't think for one second that these films are simply writers standing in front of a camera and reading their work. Video literature is a new form, and we admit that some entries we received were people who simply misunderstood and so played guitar while they read their work. But the videos, the winners and the pieces we've solicited, are works of art, combining visuals, sound, technical skills, written text, and, for the nonfiction films, serious research. Some of the shorts focus on human interest stories, such as moving from an urban area to the rural Midwest; some of them address somber subjects, such as the mortality rate of teenagers or the environmental issues heating up in the deserts of Utah.

We'll be serving gourmet popcorn (for example: popcorn chicken kettle corn with habanera sauce) and Iron Horse sodas (yup, bottled Iron Horse sodas). There will be a red carpet with a photographer, swag bags, and lots of chatter surrounding this event.

We hope you will find our film fest intriguing enough to attend, and we hope you could please help us spread the word, too! Thank you so much!
