TTU School of Art presents Sight Line: A Photography/Poetry Collaboration
Supported with funds from the Ryla T. & John F. Lott Endowment for Excellence in the Visual Arts, Texas Tech School of Art will present Sight Line: A Photography/Poetry Collaboration featuring talks from artist Stephen Hillerbrand and poet/writer H.L Hix. Both talks are free and open to the public.

Stephen Hillerbrand, one of the collaborating partners of Hillerbrand + Magsamen, will present an artist’s talk on March 28, 2013 at 6:30pm in room B-01 of the Art building.

H.L. Hix will speak on April 4, 2013 at 7:30pm in room LH-001 of the English building.

Sight Line: A Poetry/Photography Collaboration is a partnership between the graduate poetry students of John Poch, professor in creative writing, and graduate photography students of Rick Dingus, professor in photography, who have encouraged their students to create collaborative and individual works of poetry and photography during the Spring semester of 2013.

About the speakers:

Hillerbrand+Magsamen are married and create art using video, installation, and performance to document and re-contextualize ideas about the self, family, the camera, and culture.  Their videos have appeared in international film festivals including SCOPE Basel, WAND V Stuttgarter Filmwinter, and the NY Underground Film Festival.  Their cinematic based installations have been seen in Taiwan, the Hudson River Museum, the Woodstock Center for Photography, and Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film, among others.

H.L. Hix is a poet, critic, and philosopher, and the author/translator/editor of 20 books. He has taught at the Kansas City Art Institute and was Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Currently, he is MFA Program Director and Professor at the University of Wyoming.

These events are supported with funds from the Ryla T. & John F. Lott Endowment for Excellence in the Visual Arts. In addition, exhibitions, speakers and related programs at Landmark Arts and the Texas Tech University School of Art are made possible, in part, by generous grants from the Helen Jones Foundation and The CH Foundation. Additional support comes from cultural activities fees administered through the College of Visual & Performing Arts.
