MARINE CORPS OFFICER PROGRAMS
PLATOON LEADERS CLASS (PLC)

Start the next adventure in your life by accepting the challenge, doing something different and standing out from your peers. Become a leader of elite men and women, gain real world experience, prove yourself physically and mentally capable and at the end of the day stand proud of your accomplishments as a Marine Corps Officer.

6 WEEK COURSES: FRESHMEN and SOPHOMORES attend PLC over the course of two summers. The first summer PLC class is called PLC Juniors and the second summer PLC class is called PLC Seniors.

10 WEEK COURSES: JUNIORS will attend PLC Combined which is 10 weeks long over the course of one summer.

PLC takes place in Quantico, Virginia during the summer months to ensure minimal disruption of each Candidate’s academic schedule. Upon successful completion of OCS, all Candidates return to their respective schools to finish their graduation requirements. Bring your PLC transcript back to the registrar at your university and earn college credits for the training you completed.

SERVICE OBLIGATIONS

There is no military obligation during college. Candidates must agree to accept their commission as a Marine Corps Officer in order to incur any service obligation. You can voluntarily disenroll from the program at any time up until you accept your commission. If you disenroll prior to accepting your commission you will not incur any service obligation. Once a Candidate accepts their commission, he/she incurs 4 years of obligated service for all GROUND contracts and 8 years of obligated service for all AIR contracts (after earning aviator wings).

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates must be US Citizens. Must score a minimum of a 1000 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT or 74 on the ASVAB, maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA and must be enrolled full-time in a baccalaureate program. Must meet all physical, medical and moral standards. (Contact the Officer Selection Office for details)

COMPENSATION AND PAY WHILE IN THE PROGRAM

Earn roughly $3,300 for each 6 week course attended or $5,450 for attending the 10 week course. Upon completion of your first summer at OCS you are eligible to apply for the Marine Corps Financial Assistance Program (MCFAP) which is a $1575 stipend per semester.

Starting salary for a Second Lieutenant is between $46,200 and $57,200 annually (including meal and housing allowances).

AVIATOR AND NAVAL FLIGHT OFFICER CONTRACTS - Guaranteed a seat in flight school Must pass the Aviation Selection Test Battery Test (ASTB-E), a flight physical.
