SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS NEEDED FOR SURVIVOR RECOVERY DOCUMENTARY FILM

My name is Holley Baker and I'm creating a documentary film for my graduate thesis in the Master of Art Education program in the School of Art.  My thesis will explore survivors' stories and their recovery from their traumatic experiences.

In a study of re-victimization among sexual assault survivors, researchers have found that over half of the survivors have experienced more than one incident of sexual assault or abuse. On top of that, many of the survivors continue to experience severe post-traumatic stress through self blame, anxiety and lack of trust. Prevention programs and social media can heighten self-blame by placing responsibility for avoiding sexual assault squarely on the victims' shoulders.

You may be able to participate in this documentary if you:

- are a sexual assault survivor

- have actively sought individual or group therapy in the past, or

- are currently considering seeking individual or group therapy

- are willing to talk about your past experiences on camera

If you are interested, we will conduct an informal interview to determine your eligibility for this project.  In this interview, I will ask you questions about your current emotional/mental state, outlook on the future, interpersonal relationship, past traumatic event and schedule availability during spring 2015.  Your participation in this documentary can be kept confidential at your request.

If you would like to participate in this documentary and add your voice to an international issue, please send your name, email and best time to contact to holley.baker@ttu.edu.
