Goldwater Seminar: Dr. Bruce A. Jackson

How has a small Massachusetts Community College produced more Goldwater Scholars than most universities in the nation?

Meet Dr. Bruce Jackson, who will share his best practices on how to guide your research students to become Goldwater recipients. He has produced 20 Goldwater award winners at a community college in the last 20 years!

Dr. Bruce A. Jackson, professor and chair of the biotechnology department at Massachusetts Bay Community College, will present "Goldwater Scholars: Guiding Your Students to Earn this Prestigious Award" in Herald Winkler Auditorium - Terry Fuller Petroleum Engineering Research Building 110 on April 3 at 2:30 p.m.

Dr. Jackson is also a world-renowned forensic DNA scientist and conducts criminal and missing-person cases for the FBI and police departments worldwide as well as serves as scientific consultant for defense attorneys in the United States. His DNA research has been featured widely in the world media including Good Morning America, CBS Evening News, CNN, Washington Post, NPR, Fox Television, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, La Express (Paris, France), and PBS.

He has won numerous awards for his achievements for his work as a scientist and science educator including a 1995 National Science Foundation CAREER Award, a 2008 Fulbright Award and 2009 The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, Engineering Mentoring that was awarded to him at the White House by President Obama in January 2011.
