Job Description
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructor(s) will teach first-generation students with limited socioeconomic backgrounds in Lit/Comp, Math, and Science during a five (5) week program from June 2- July 3, 2014 on the TTU main campus. Classes taught will be held M- Th from 8:00am-12pm.

• Educates students by planning and developing course of study according to curriculum guidelines & federal requirements;
• Tailors course of study by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability and previous achievement;
• Develops and presents lesson plans by using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and library resources, computers, and the internet;
• Monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student results by preparing assignments, tests, and homework;
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with program regulations;
• Intercepts deterioration in achievement by counseling students with academic difficulties; drawing on the program’s resources for additional academic assistance;
• Keeps UB staff informed by maintaining records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation; reporting on all elements of student development at staff-teacher meetings, both regularly scheduled and as-needed;
• Provide student support services by monitoring student activities; and
• Updates job knowledge by attending faculty meetings; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications & maintaining professional networks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Classroom Management, Verbal Communication, Resolving Conflict, Presentation Skills, Self-Motivated, Motivating Others, Listening, Collaborative Teaching - 9-12, Deals with Objectivity and Confidentiality.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Secondary level teaching experience is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals that have succeeded in overcoming the disadvantages and circumstances such as those of the targeted population.
