"Gimme de Knee Bone Bent and the Arms Akimbo:  Recovering Sound and Motion in 19th Century American Dance Iconography"

Christopher Smith presents an exploration of Antebellum meetings between Anglo-Celtic and Afro-Caribbean music and dance traditions on the rivers, canals, decks, and harbors of the new Nation. The presentation will be of interest to dance, music, history, iconography, and literary specialists. 

This last of three Fine Arts Doctoral Program Faculty Research Lectures is presented by the College of Visual & Performing Arts.
