OLLI Presents Azucar A Musical Journey Through Cuba SEPT 21 at 2:00PM

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) & Alumni Association present "Azucar A Musical Journey Through Cuba" Sept. 21st from 2:00-3:30pm.


The musical style of Cuba has had an influential impact on world music. This class will explore several important musical genres from rumba, son, danzon to mambo, cha-cha-cha, and their influences on Latin Jazz. By the end of the class, students will be able to identify important musical genres and understand their cultural contexts. This class will be instructed by Lauryn Salazar, Ph.D., an assistant professor of musicology in the School of Music at Texas Tech University.
