The Virginia Murray Sowell Center for Research and Education in Sensory Disabilities hosts: See the Sound – Visual Phonics
Speaker will be Lorie Lail, M.A., CCC-SLPnics
Ms. Lail is a speech therapist who has been working at the El Paso Regional Day School Program for the Deaf for 35 years. She is a certified Visual Phonics trainer and a former trainer for the Texas Struggling Readers Institute. Ms. Lail is also a certified deaf education teacher. The Texas Association of Parents and Educators of the Deaf named her as one of the state's top educators. She is a recipient of the El Paso Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Outstanding Public School Speech Therapist award, and a former president of the EPSHA association.
This lecture will teach the description, the rationale, development, research, and application of Visual Phonics and explain how to produce the Visual Phonics' hand cues and written symbols and decode and encode words using Visual Phonics.
