HDFS 2303-260. Lifespan Human Development – Through the Eyes of Artists
Summer 1. Fulfills core Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement. No prerequisites.
This 21-day study tour will cover the core course, HDFS 2303, as students experience five cities: Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice, and Milan, interspersed with week-end stays in Tuscany and Lido beach on the Adriatic Sea. Lectures on development from infancy through old age will be complemented by excursions to museums and historical sites that will introduce students to iconic images by Michelangelo and others that transformed Western thought on what it means to be human. Join us as we visit the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, and Museo del Novecento in Milan. Additional tours will take students to Bologna’s Museum of Science, a local vineyard, and centers that offer social services.
