In the not too distant future, clean renewable energy sources will provide much of the electricity for the world's population. Wind power productions are rapidly expanding, dotting the landscape with spinning turbines that promise the delivery of clean energy. Wind power is indeed a growth industry of the 21st Century and with it comes an emerging body of knowledge. Ensuring the growth of this clean energy source is largely dependent upon creating a competent well-educated workforce.
Run on the Wind camp provides the following
Session Topic and Activities include:
- Building a wind turbine
- Land sailing at Reese Technology Center ( Wind Permitting)
- Solar town build
- Renewable energy design considerations
- Concepts of solar panel design and installation
- Principles and physics of electricity
- Environmental considerations of renewable energy
- Aspects of and considerations in renewable energy forecasting
Generation Tech's goals are to provide students with information regarding:
- Interdisciplinary nature of renewable energy
- What careers are possible in renewable energy fields
- What academic skills are necessary to succeed
Registration guidelines: Registration fee includes: instruction, supervision, room and board, linen set/package, a camp t-shirt, and evening recreation.
