FIRST-TIME TEACHING ASSISTANTS at Texas Tech University are encouraged to attend the 30th Annual New TA Workshop on Wed., Aug. 24. The workshop is designed to assist graduate students who will be teaching for the first time at Texas Tech. Over the course of the day, you will get tips on best practices, hear directly from some of Texas Tech's renowned faculty members and satisfy the state-mandated EEO training requirements. Attendees
The workshop is for ALL new teaching assistants at Texas Tech University (regardless of college).
Presenters
The workshop will feature Senior Vice Provost Rob Stewart, Dean Brent Lindquist (Arts & Sciences), Dean Mark Sheridan (Graduate School), Assistant Vice Chancellor Charlotte Bingham, Cathy Duran (Student Affairs), Larry Phillippe (Student Disability Services) and numerous members of the Texas Tech faculty. Parking
Parking for registered attendees will be provided. Attendees will be sent a confirmation email that will contain further information on parking as well as other pertinent information. All attendees must register their vehicles through the parking that will be provided to you in order to receive free parking for the TA Workshop.
Breakfast and Lunch
Coffee, juice and donuts will be served in the lobby of Biology LH 100 from 7:30-8 a.m. Vouchers will be provided for lunch and can be redeemed anywhere on campus with the exception of Barnes & Nobles and Starbucks.
Agenda
The TA Workshop will feature sessions on effective teaching, classroom conflict and management, effective grading and assessment, avoiding grade appeals, student with disabilities and much more. Attendees will also fulfill the state-mandated requirements for EEO training. Schedule
Registration
Registration is available until 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22. In order to register, you will need to create a short profile on OrgSync. Once your profile is created, you will be directed to the registration form. You will need your eRaider username and password to complete registration.
