This course meets Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-4:50 during Fall 2016 (CRN 27920). The instructor is Dr. Kent Wilkinson, director of the Harris Institute for Hispanic and International Communication in the College of Media & Communication. Students will write several short papers in response to readings, lead class discussion on a topic of their choosing, and complete a final paper/project. Topics to be covered include:

- communication for social development
- human rights and communication
- transnational communication industries
- global journalism
- advertising and public relations
- theories of international communication (social scientific & interpretive)
- international popular culture
