Participants wanted for Energetic Cost of Walking Study

Participants must be between 20-35 or 65+ years old, non-smokers without diagnosed cardiovascular, lung or metabolic disease, not taking medications that affect blood pressure (including hormone replacement therapy), no high blood pressure, not obese, and no bone or muscle problems that limit walking ability.

This study involves 5 visits (visit 1 = 1 hour, visits 2 through 5 = 1.5 hours each) to the Kinesiology & Sport Management building at Texas Tech University.  Measurements include questionnaires, blood pressure, walking speed, muscle oxygenation, and pulmonary oxygen uptake during exercise.  Participants will be compensated $60 for completion of the study.  Interested men and women should contact Mr. John Ashley at 214-930-1870 or at john.ashley@ttu.edu 

This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Texas Tech University.
