Adapt Your Favorite Story for Stage Production!

Everyone knows that novels, non-fiction, and even plays are frequently adapted into movie scripts. But from Sophocles on down to Tony Kushner and beyond, playwrights have also adapted all sorts of material into plays for the stage. Adaptation is fun and challenging. Try it! Select your favorite novel, short story, music album, poem—even your favorite video game—and spend a semester adapting it into a stage play. You’ll come out of the semester with new or enhanced writing skills—oh, yeah, and with the first draft of a producible script. The professor will waive the prerequisites for the course for students with some writing and/or theatre experience. (THA 5321-001. CRN 14864)
