Student Research Week TTUHSC

Hello Sir/Madam,

Each year, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in Lubbock Student Research Week (SRW) provides a platform for students and faculty across the Texas Tech system and regional universities to showcase their research. This is a golden opportunity for various science disciplines to come together and interact in a professional environment, to facilitate exchange of ideas, promote their excellent research facilities and stimulate collaborations, together, progressing towards the advancement of science. The theme for the 2014 SRW is Molecular Imaging: Advancing Diagnostics, with emphasis on promoting the united efforts among researchers and clinical practitioners, leading to the use of molecular imaging in quality research and healthcare applications. This event will highlight this rapidly advancing method of medicine which will undoubtedly reshape the future of all medical professions. To encourage this endeavor we will be hosting two eminent personalities from the field of fluorescent protein research and development of diagnostic applications.

This upcoming year’s Student Research Week will be held from March 5th-7th, 2014, which includes a poster competition on March 5th and 6th and a guest speaker seminar series on March 7th. This year we are inviting two keynote speakers, MARTIN L. CHALFIE, Ph.D
2008 Chemistry Nobel Laureate, William R. Kenan Jr. Professor and Chair of Biological Sciences, Columbia University and LEE JOSEPHSON, Ph.D.Associate Professor, Department of Radiology, Harvard Medical School
Associate Chemist, Center for Molecular Imaging Research, Massachusetts General Hospital, nationally recognized for their great contributions.

On behalf of the 2014 SRW organizing committee, I would like to cordially invite the students from your campus to participate in the poster competition and also attend the guest speaker seminar series.

To participate in the poster competition, you will need to submit the abstract of your research on our SRW poster website (http://www.ttuhsc.edu/gsbs/srw/posters.aspx). There you will find a link to our abstract submission form.  The abstract should be a maximum of 400 words. The last day for submitting abstracts is January 31st, 2014. We will be updating the website regularly to provide more information on poster guidelines, poster categories and judging criteria. The poster competition is open for all medical and biological research areas and winners will get cash prizes in different categories. We will also be providing free t-shirts to all the participants at the poster competition.

Start submitting your abstracts as soon as you can! If you have any questions or concerns, you can email to Nirupama at nirupama.nishtala@ttuhsc.edu or Srinivasan at srinivasan.krishnan@ttuhsc.edu or visit our main SRW website (http://www.ttuhsc.edu/gsbs/srw/srwcurrent.aspx) where you can read about SRW, poster guidelines, obtain a SRW schedule, and get more information about the keynote speakers we will be hosting.

Thank you!
