Earn $1,000 Discussing Ideas - Application Deadline is May 31

The Free Market Institute (FMI) is now accepting applications for the fall 2015 McLane Teammates Reading Program. All current undergraduate students at Texas Tech University from any major are eligible to apply to participate in the program.

The McLane Teammates Reading Program is a one semester, non-credit reading group where participants read and discuss selections from classic works and from contemporary scholars that address important questions in political economy. Participants that successfully complete the program receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The theme for the fall 2015 program is Classic and Contemporary Controversies in Political Economy. Students will engage a series of questions and debates through the writings of economists and their critics on topics including free trade, drug prohibition, urban planning, third world development, and immigration, among other topics.

The program will meet for ten (10) sessions on Tuesday evenings during the fall semester. Dinner will be provided at each meeting. Participants will also travel to Dallas to participate in a summit with other McLane Program participants from Southern Methodist University and Baylor University in early November.

The application deadline is May 31, 2015. Interested students can apply here.

For more information about the program, please visit the FMI Student Programs page or contact the Free Market Institute at 806.742.7138 or free.market@ttu.edu.
