Gender & Gender Identity Colloquium
The Women's Studies Program organizes a fall colloquium to provide the academic community an opportunity to present papers on, analyze, and discuss a specific topic. The purpose of the Gender & Gender Identity colloquium is to highlight feminist research and debates over the meanings of gender. Topics have included gender and media, gender and political activism, cultural construction of gender, teaching about GLBTQ movement in the classroom and psychology of sex roles.

Since its inception in 2009, the colloquium has served as a forum where speakers, discussants, presenters, panelist and the general audience can engage in vigorous exchanges centering on gender and gender identity in terms of empowerment and commitment to social justice.

The colloquium will be conducted on October 23. The month of October is nationally recognized as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) & Ally Awareness Month.  It is our intent to encourage open and safe dialogue for educators to discuss their research. For more information on defining GLBTQ click on the following "on campus resource virtual pamphlet".
